Travel Tip Tuesday

When traveling to a destination outside of your home country make sure to make 2 copies of your passport and give one copy to a trusted family member (or your travel agent) and store one copy in a different piece of luggage. Doing this will ensure that you still have your passport information available should the unthinkable happen and your passport is lost or stolen.

I also recommend registering your trip with the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program. This program allows the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate to provide you with important information regarding safety and health issues that may be occurring in the area you are traveling too. It also helps friends, family, and the embassy to contact and help you in case of an emergency. Most travel agents will be happy to register you for free or you can register your trip yourself by going to this site.
